Will of WILLIAM HUDGENS

In the name of God, Amen; I William Hudgens of Rowan County & State of North Carolina being weak in body, but of sound mind and memory, calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, do for the purpose of disposing of my estate and settling my affairs in full with each and every individual, make this my last will and testament in manner and form following - I give my soul to God who gave it me praying his acceptance and my body to the Earth from whence it was taken, requesting a decent burial of my friends and executors hereafter named. I will that all my just debts be first paid out of my Estate. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Elizabeth three negroes named David, Hannah and Jessee. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Abott one negro girl which she has now in possession named Silvy. I give and bequeath to my little son William the tract of land whereon I now live with three negroes, Millis and her son James and Tom. I give to my youngest son Pleasant 4 negroes Charles Chany Isaac and Hannah. I will that all my moveable estate except what I have already given, be kept together for the use of my two little sons William and Plesant and my wife Elizabeth during her widowhood, but in case she should marry that then all my moveables as above be disposed of at the discretion of my after named executors for the alone use of my above ment'd sons William and Pleasant. I give to my two sons William and Plesant all my wearing apparel to be divided at the discretion of my executors between them. And lastly for the faithfully executing this my last will and testament do constitute, nominate and appoint my beloved friends John Sloan, Alexander Long and Thomas Carson, my lawfull executors and all & every other will is hereby revoked made by me heretofore and do by these presents constitute this my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this 28th day of June 1795.
